One thing I’m grateful for from my school days is being taught to touch type as part of one of the courses I took. I kept up this skill over the years and recently did an online test that indicated I can type at 64 words per minute.

While a fast typing speed isn’t necessarily essential, I believe it’s been beneficial for me, as I can jot down what I’m thinking while typing – if not as fast as the speed of thought, certainly faster than writing with a pen.

Now, I definitely believe there can be more creativity unleashed when using a pen or pencil and piece of paper. (Or the reMarkable writing tablet, as I often use nowadays).

But the ability to type fairly quickly is one that I’m pleased I have, as it means I can create written content in a shorter time, and thus more frequently than I would be able to otherwise.
